OpenEBS and K8up architecture: a stateful application claims a volume through CSI and a StorageClass, which binds it to either the node-local Local PV engine on one disk or the Replicated PV engine, which writes to replicas on several nodes; the K8up operator creates a restic job that mounts the persistent volume claim and copies it to S3-compatible object storage.
