Hero to Zero
May 1985. One careless remark at a farmhouse party, and an order that would end a rising star's career within a week.
It was the biggest conspiracy South India had ever seen.
May 1985. Two top film stars were ruling two neighbouring states, and summer was at its peak: the scorching days known as Agni Nakshatram.
One weekend, a friendly party was held at the Ramapuram farmhouse. The two leaders were there, along with celebrities from both states. When the conversation turned to the blazing summer heat, a senior comedian at once compared Agni Nakshatram to the new hero in town.
“He is handsome, he can act, he can fight, and he can even dance,” he said. “In the coming days, he may smash our own heroes.”
The remark made a few people uncomfortable, and one after another, they said so. Then one of the top leaders called the police chief and told him to turn the new hero into a zero within a week.
Later, a few of them regretted the mistake they had made under the influence of alcohol.
